The Cat at Platform Zero Vol.36

About this book

（シリーズ共通の説明文に本巻の軸を差し替えて使用する） > Thirty-six volumes in, the valley turns at last to the smallest printed promise the station makes: the paper ticket, bought at Hoshizaki's window, one journey at a time. Over one whole year, from December to November, a mother who has bought her son's leaving before his arrival for eleven years, a repairer who keeps every stub of his life in a biscuit tin as proof, a widow of seventy-four who has never once bought a ticket herself, a father who checks his daughter's exam ticket like a pulse, a summer student who buys his homesickness every Friday and never travels on it, and a retired schoolteacher whose whole world has shrunk to one monthly ticket — each must learn the year's quiet discipline: to keep a promise at its size. Twelve complete, gentle stories about the ticket, and our relations with it.
